Pumpkin butter, doh
Jan. 19th, 2010 02:22 pmA few years ago we were at Williams-Sonoma after the holidays and picked up some jars of their very tasty pumpkin butter on clearance for $1.99, a much more rational price than their usual ($12.00, iirc). But we've never managed that trick again, usually not even getting there to check for it, but even when we have, haven't found it. Trader Joe's makes one, but I don't like it as well.
So I was thinking about it and mildly regretting it, when I suddenly realized: I have a glut of squash puree in my freezer! I can make my own! Doh.
And so I have. I can affirm that it makes a fine pbj sandwich (well, sunflower seed butter and pumpkin butter, to be exact). And I'm sure it's going to be great mixed into oatmeal or yogurt, two of my other favorite uses for pumpkin butter.
Plus I can make more anytime I want. Hah!
