Carol singing party
Dec. 21st, 2007 05:47 pmI've been commenting in other people's LJs, but haven't posted anything myself for a while. Well, I'm back from the MN-AZ trip. We managed to get through Oklahoma just ahead of that dreadful ice storm. I caught a cold from my Dad, so came back to CA mostly voiceless. I'm better, though my singing voice is still ragged.
Speaking of singing, I'm hosting my annual Christmas carol singing party this coming Sunday. I'm trying an afternoon party instead of the evening, 2-5. C'mon over if you're interested (or let me know and I'll add you to my e-mail list for next year). I spent most of today cleaning in prep for it. I even washed the kitchen floor It's such an unsatisfying floor to wash because the pattern has lots of grayish splotches, so it never looks completely clean. (OTOH, it never looks that dirty either.)
I've got most presents bought & wrapped. We have the tree up & decorated, and other decorations strewn about. The village is set up and we'll let people at the party populate it. My dad is visiting from AZ for a week, staying with my brother Chuck who lives just a few miles away (it's a wacky coincidence that we both ended up here). I'm hosting Christmas eve dinner and need to plan the menu. I'm leaning towards Chicken Marbella, a Silver Palate recipe that I finally tried a couple months ago. It's basically chicken marinated in white wine and roasted with olives and prunes (or apricots). A lovely combination of sweet, salty, and savory. I can see why it's become a favorite for so many.
The kitchen floor should be dry now, so I think it's time for a glass of wine!
