I'm cranky. Mostly because I'm hot, I think, because I failed to turn the fan on this afternoon, and it's warmer today than I expected. But I'm also tired of being slow and clumsy, a condition which is not going to improve for another 5-6 weeks. Tomorrow I see the doctor to get my stitches out (probably) on my left foot, and may get an okay to start wearing regular shoes on my right. An improvement, but I'll still be clomping around for a while. Yes, the novelty, such as it was, has definitely worn off. I know, it wore off long ago for anyone reading this, if indeed anyone still is. It's just boring weeks of recovery now.
I'm going to make chicken with Marsala, figs, and cinnamon basil for dinner. Perhaps that will cheer me up. I was going to make this dish before the surgery, and even cut some cinnamon basil and stuck it in a vase in readiness. Then, for various reasons, I didn't. But the CB in the vase is still green and fragrant, so tonight's the night. (CB is a basil with a marvelous cinnamon flavor. Nasty for pesto, but great as an infusion.)
