Wine, warehouse, and weeds
Apr. 8th, 2006 09:46 pmAfter a morning at the Master Gardener research facility, I spent yesterday afternoon with
spikeiowa and visiting Brit fans
sbisson and
marypcb, eating sushi and visiting local wineries. We discovered many congruences. (Randall Grahm Rules! Read Da Vino Commedia.)
Today
spikeiowa and I went to the Made in France warehouse sale. I bought Dijon mustard, boudin noire (swoon), and duck, rabbit, and boar sausages. And walnut oil. Also swoon. Had the duck sausage on frisée salad tonight, with grilled fennel and new potatoes. Yet another swoon.
Spent two hours at the community garden weeding the common area and commiserating with the manager. Much time spent trying to convince her that sending out first (and second) notices to people who are not keeping up their own plots, much less helping with the community area, does not make her a bad person. In fact, she would be a good person, getting rid of people who don't have the time or will to take care of the plot they've commtted to. Hope she'll follow through with it.
