Heat wave

We're enjoying a short-lived heat wave here -- 2 or 3 days of 80+ degree highs, before going back to highs in the 60s. We moved the grill out tonight, grilled chicken and leeks, and ate dinner outside, admiring the crisp, crescent moon. Tomorrow will probably be too cool to repeat (pleasantly).

Nonetheless, we have many leeks in the garden that must be eaten, grilled or otherwise. This will be a continuing theme. Lamb chops and leeks tomorrow, I think.

Vichyssoise! At least during the hot spell. (For me, a version made with no heavy cream, and maybe not even any half-and-half.)

And I'm wondering about adapting it to scallions, of which I happen to have a plethora at the moment, including two varieties of Japanese ones.

Here in the LArea, by the way, we've been having Heat (85+degrees F.) for about a week, and it give the impression of being the minimum we'll be getting until about October. *sigh* It's especially hard on the lettuce (third crop) and late-planted broccoli seedlings.
