In case any other Terry Pratchett fans out there haven't heard yet, Hogfather is available from Netflix and is quite wonderful! Oh sure, we have some quibbles (didn't like the way Teatime was played at all -- he would have been much creepier if he had spoken suavely while staring fixedly instead of using that bizarre speech pattern). But overall, we thought the movie and casting were quite brilliant. Check it out!

The bonus materials are skimpy, just a trailer and an interview. Too bad, a making of would have been fun, but I got the impression they barely had enough money to make the film (though they did a damn fine job, didn't look underfunded to me). The interview was stunningly and astonishingly amateurish. We were rather amazed that it had been included. Guess they were desperate for material. Most of the interviewer's questions were pretty boring too, but there were a few bits of interest after a while. So we were glad we watched it, though it was rough going in parts.

Sky did at least a one-hour making of, showing Death in makeup and so on, that was broadcast as a teaser. might be on the usual sources (we didn't keep a copy though).

I saw it when it was broadcast on tv. Can't really remember what channel it was on. I enjoyed it though.

Up in Seattle it was on the ION channel. AFAIK they are still negotiating the rights to show The Colour of Magic, which the BBC broadcast last Easter. (With Sean Astin as Twoflower and Jeremy Irons as The Patrician. The evil wizard is played by Tim Curry, that master of masticated scenery.)
