Suddenly fall
Sep. 30th, 2009 10:29 pmAfter last weekend's heatwave, we're suddenly into fall. Today we opened the windows during the day for the warmth and closed them at night to retain it. I took lamb shanks out of the freezer and made a lamb tagine (definitely a cold weather meal, but made with fresh figs! I've recovered from my fig ennui). I cooked up a batch of wheat berries from Massa Organics that were toothsomely chewy and full of sweet, fresh wheat flavor. They were great with the tagine. But what's next? Can it be . . . oatmeal for breakfast?!
In other news, I revamped the irrigation in two of the four front beds today. Which reminds me, I had better go out and hunt slugs now on those newly dampened beds. Bye!
