cat in the garden
Jun. 19th, 2009 12:02 pmSome neighborhood cat has recently decided to use my straw-covered garden paths as a daily litterbox. I wouldn't even mind if it only happened occasionally, but it has become daily, and that's too much. It used to be that the cats were only interested when I had fresh, soft dirt exposed in the beds. My way to deal with that was to lay tomato cages over the beds until the plants were big enough, but I obviously can't lay cages all over my paths! I want to walk there too.
I bought and sprinkled a Shake-Away repellent (coyote urine granules) over the area Wednesday, but have found fresh gifts both yesterday and today. I sprinkled some chile powder out there today, but I suspect that will just filter down through the straw to no effect.
Suggestions welcome! I never see the cat out there, or I could just yell at him. If it's the one I think it is, he's actually fairly sensitive to being scolded, but I'd have to catch him at it.
