Last week I had a mild cold. Came down with it Sunday night, treated it (lightly) with meds and nasal lavage. By Friday I was feeling just fine. A quick, mild cold -- no big deal.

Then Sunday we went to a superbowl commercial watching party (you know, you skip the game and watch the commercials). I took an anti-cat allergy pill (Claritin generic, I forget the drug name). But the longer we stayed, the more I was sneezing and clogging up. Did the pills die? They worked the last time I used them. But by Monday morning it was obvious that it was not allergies. My sinuses were seriously unhappy with me. Sigh, more medication, more nasal lavage + gargling.

And now today, after talking last night for 1 1/2 hrs and getting hoarse, I've completely lost my voice. Well, not an unusual reaction for me; it happens every few years at the end of a cold. But still, I'm perplexed by the timing. Did I not really get rid of that first, mild cold? Or is this a second cold/sinus infection unrelated to the first one? Or only related because my system was a bit worn down and susceptible? I really thought I had escaped easily from that first cold and am flummoxed to find myself here. Oh well, I should have my voice back by next Tuesday (next class) at the latest, hopefully sooner.
