vitamin nausea
Jul. 2nd, 2008 11:05 amWhy do multivitamins upset the stomach? I used to take my vitamin first thing in the morning. It worked for years, then sometime in my thirties I started having problems. So I switched to after breakfast, but after a few more years, sometimes even that wasn't enough food to cushion the effect. Then I tried after lunch, but I had a really hard time remembering that. So I'm back to after breakfast, but if I forget for an hour or two, it doesn't always sit well. I tried switching to a no-iron tablet on my doctor's suggestion, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
I'm eating some yogurt with honey and cinnamon to settle my stomach, having foolishly taken taken my vitamins too long after breakfast today. I do wonder how necessary multi-vitamins are. The B-complex and Cal-Mag-Zinc both seem like good ideas (and don't upset my stomach), but multi, I just don't know. And then there's that interesting research about vitamin D.
