Bridge and foot
Aug. 2nd, 2007 10:34 pmIt's been shocking to read about the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis. It could have been worse, but that's a small comfort.
I used that bridge all the time when I lived there, commuting to work and going to the U. The bizarre thing, though, is that I can't picture crossing the Mississippi on it. Obviously it did, of course, but I just can't conjure up an image. As a driver I'm pretty focused on the road, but there are plenty of other bridges where I am quite aware of what I'm crossing (water, railroads, other roadways). Maybe something about the sides of that bridge? I'll never know now.
Today's foot 'excitement' (yeah, I can tell you're all thrilled), is that I had the massive pad of dressing removed and the stitches taken out. It's Frankentoe, I'm telling you. Wish I'd had my camera with me. There's even a screw (only visible on the x-ray, though). I'm still supposed to stay off the foot as much as possible, but I don't have to keep it elevated as much, so I can sit at my desk some of the time.
