All planted
Jun. 17th, 2007 10:48 pmI finished planting today! Every last zinnia, cosmos, and marigold (not to mention squash, melons, celeriac, parsley root, and earth chestnuts, which were planted earlier) are in the ground. All of the seedlings that have been languishing in trays on the picnic table are now somewhere. They may still languish, but it won't be my fault anymore.
Much irrigation line was run in support of this effort. Did I mention that I LOVE the 1/4" emitter tubing? So easy to work with! Now I want to convert the front garden.
I even optimistically planted some carrot seeds. Carrots and I haven't gotten along well in the past. The seeds can take a long time to germinate, then stay tiny and weak for a long time afterwards. They need frequent watering, which is not my forte. And my previous irrigation set up didn't seem to please them either. But perhaps this one will. Although the seeds (Dragon, a beautiful purple skinned carrot with an orange interior) are 3 years old, which is dicey for carrots. Whatever, maybe they'll sprout, maybe not. It'll be a surprise.
