I started reading The Quincunx by Charles Palliser. I've reached page 98 and am finding the development so irritating, I'm hesitant to continue. The second good servant has been dismissed, they're stuck with the vile nurse, and the mother is continuing to make stupid financial decisions. Tell me, anyone who loved the book, is it worth continuing and why? I'm not asking rhetorically. It can make a difference to me if someone whose judgement I trust tells me it's worthwhile. OTOH, someone saying, "Well, if you haven't liked it by now, you're not going to" is also invaluable.
