The Clean Fiend strikes again
Jun. 13th, 2006 08:17 amYesterday, I cleaned off my potting bench.
I had already made inroads on the surrounding mounds of pots which are shortly to be given away or recycled. Part of the problem is that the bench is under a deodar cedar that drops needles constantly. A one to two-inch layer easily accumulates in a year. But really, the main problem is that packrat tendancy to save something because I might need it someday. Broken handles, old sieves, chipped cups. But I am becoming ruthless. If I haven't used it in the past 3 years, out it went. Ha hah!
There are too many places around here that I avert my eyes from, because I don't want to see the messy collection of unnecessary stuff I have accumulated. It's a form of house blindness. Still, I know they're there, and they oppress me with their mere existence. But when the Clean Fiend strikes, a few square feet are restored to the visual world. Hooray!
Oh, I also pulled all the calendula around the patio. They're very cheerful in the winter but they were choking the raspberries and looking very weedy. Never fear, they'll be back.
