Viridian, not vermilion
Jan. 9th, 2006 11:24 pmOkay, I have convinced myself that Amy Goldman is wrong, vermilion green doesn't exist, she really meant viridian, and Workman Publishing should be be embarrassed not to have caught it. The manufacturer mentioned on the color page
akirlu and
alces2 found (Schmincke) makes a vermilion and a viridian, but not a 'vermilion green' (nor a 'vermillion green'). Now, I can't be absolutely certain, because the Horadam Aquarell color chart on their website doesn't include color 532 which is the supposed vermilion green. But I'm dubious.
This really gripes me. She's quite famous in gardening circles, and this book has been quite acclaimed. But this makes me wonder about the rest of her facts. I would love to find out that 'vermilion green' does exist and that I'm wrong, but I'm sincerely doubting it.
